Sim Free Samsung Wave 3 Handset Rumoured
Samsung looks like it is persisting with the roll-out of smartphones based on its in-house Bada operating system, as retailers are reporting that the Wave 3 handset is going to be hitting the UK market sim free in the coming weeks.
While most mainstream users will be familiar with Android, iOS or Windows Phone, the Bada platform has so far been restricted to just a handful of models launched by Samsung.
While these have been received moderately well by critics, the number of people actually investing in Bada pales in comparison to the alternatives.
Despite this, the Samsung Wave 3 actually sounds attractive on paper. It will feature a four inch Super AMOLED screen, a single core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and a five megapixel camera with HD video capture as standard.
A moderately small 4GB of storage will be available to the user, but with a microSD memory card slot, it should be easy to expand further if required.
Although the Wave 3 runs Bada, the interface and user experience should seem relatively familiar to anyone who has used one of Samsung's recent Android handsets, thanks to the inclusion of the TouchWiz software skin and features such as the Social Hub, which aggregates feeds from your favourite networks.
One thing which makes the Wave 3 attractive is the fact that it will be targeting the middle of the market in terms of sim free pricing and is likely to launch in the UK for less than £300.
For your money you would be hard pressed to get a handset with such a good screen and processor, as well as a competently put together operating system which does not necessarily stick with the crowd. Samsung is proving that there are many ways to remain relevant.
