Samsung will be releasing the Galaxy Ace Plus handset in the next few weeks, almost a year after the original Ace first hit stores, according to TechRadar.

The Galaxy Ace Plus will be available sim free as well as on contract, although the exact pricing of the handset has yet to be revealed in the UK. Given that you can pick up the current Galaxy Ace for £170, its replacement is unlikely to be much more expensive upon launch.

Samsung Galaxy Ace PlusWith a modest set of hardware components, the Galaxy Ace Plus could be one of the best mid range Android 2.3 smartphones around, particularly if you do not want to part with bucketfuls of cash to enjoy the latest features.

A 3.65 inch screen is generously proportioned, although the relatively low resolution of 480x320 might be a sticking point for some, as displays of this size would normally be expected to have a much higher pixel count.

An 800MHz single core processor will do all of the number crunching onboard the Galaxy Ace Plus and you get 3GB of onboard storage space, which is more than you might expect on a budget-oriented sim free smartphone.

Around the back you get a five megapixel camera with a flash for low light shooting and it has all the web connectivity you could desire, including Wi-Fi and 3G for slick wireless browsing.

To make Android 2.3 even easier to use, Samsung has implemented its own TouchWiz user interface over the top, delivering a customisable, colourful and intuitive experience.

Samsung has been dominant at every echelon of the smartphone market in the past few months, with high end models like the Galaxy SII and Galaxy Nexus now being joined by appropriately priced mid range handsets like the Galaxy Ace Plus.
