LG E906 Gets Budget-friendly Sim Free Price

Up until the launch of the LG E906 smartphone this month, you would not be able to get a Windows Phone handset for much less than £300, but the £200 sim free price point of this fresh model is a godsend for anyone with a modest amount of cash to spend on an update.

The LG E906 is also known as the Jil Sander edition and it is under half the price of the brand new Nokia Lumia 800 and a good £100 cheaper than its closest rival in terms of specifications, according to the HTC Radar.LG E906

It features a 1GHz processor and a 3.8 inch touchscreen display along with a five megapixel camera on the back, all of which allow it to meet Microsoft's minimum hardware requirements for Windows Phones.

The Mango update for Windows Phone is preinstalled on the E906, bringing useful new features such as multitasking and Twitter integration to the table.

One of the great things about choosing a Windows Phone handset is that, whichever option you go for, you are assured of a consistent user experience. As such, the £450 sim free Nokia Lumia 800 will be no faster or more responsive than the £200 LG E906.

The one area in which the Jil Sander handset does slightly miss the mark is in its exclusion of a secondary front-facing camera, which is present on other new Windows Phone models but absent here. This does mean that video calling is not an option, but since few people will buy a phone on this facet alone, it is unlikely to have an impact on its sales.

The LG E906 has had little fanfare to mark its arrival, but with such a powerful sim free price point, it could win many people over to Windows Phones.
