Giffgaff Launches iPhone 4 Sim Only Mod Instructions
Giffgaff, a sim only network created as an offshoot of larger provider O2, has launched a new set of instructions which are designed to allow iPhone 4 owners to choose a sim only deal for their high end smartphone.
The iPhone 4 is unlike many other smartphones because it uses microsims rather than the slightly larger standard cards offered by most providers. This means it is necessary to trim down the standard sims in order to make them fit and give you the benefits of a sim only contract, but the process can be tricky without some kind of guide.
Giffgaff has produced a printable template which directs where you need to cut in order to properly modify a sim card so that it will fit in the iPhone 4's microsim tray. All you need is a printer, a pair of scissors, a nail file and some glue and the job can be over in a couple of minutes.
You just need to stick the standard sim card from the sim only provider of your choice to the template using glue, cut along the identified lines, leaving the metal contact in the centre of the card intact and then file the rough edges down before inserting the new micro-sized sim into any Sim Free iPhone 4.
Giffgaff has created its own website dedicated to modifying sims to create microsims that are compatible with the iPhone 4, and it suggests that if you do not feel comfortable with hacking away at your sim card then you can invest in a sim cutting tool which is available online.
Giffgaff is a relatively new entrant into the sim only market, offering a variety of flexible deals which do not suffer from long term commitment requirements.
